Sealing Is A Subject Of Much Confusion

Many Consumers Hear The Word Sealed And Think, Shiny...

While there are some topical coatings that will create a shine, they are not what most professionals refer to as sealers. This mixup in terminology between the professional and the consumer has been the #1 source of dissatisfaction for consumers. I'd like you to take a moment to read the following information so that we're on the same page when it comes to sealers. This will help you get the results you want whether you choose Surface Solutions or another service company.

TYPES OF PROTECTIVE SEALERS / COATINGS

SEALER (penetrating/impregnating)
The application of a clear liquid penetrating sealer designed to fill in the microscopic pores in grout or

natural stone. It doesn't change the appearance but gives great protection from water and oil based stains which would otherwise, quickly penetrate the surface and potentially create a permanent stain. We use only "Craftsman Grade" sealers specific to the porosity of your surface in order to maximize repellancy and longevity. These sealers typically take 72 hours to fully dry and cure.

COLOR SEALING
After a complete 7-STEP restorative cleaning and preparation process, we apply a permanent protective treatment for grout available in any color. This process completely seals the pores of the grout permanently and hides stains, discolorations and mismatched grout. Creates a completely uniform color that will not absorb stains. Because the surface is now non porous, it is far more sanitary and much easier to keep clean.

COLOR ENHANCEMENT
The application of a liquid penetrating sealer designed to enrich or enhance the natural color variations in natural stone. Unlike many enhancers, our enhancer will also fill in the microscopic pores in grout or natural stone which yields great protection from water and oil based stains which would otherwise, quickly penetrate the surface and potentially create a permanent stain.

SURFACE COATINGS
There are many different types of surface coatings that can be applied to most surfaces to prevent staining, create a glossy or matte finish, completely re-color or even faux finish and in some cases increase durability of the surface.

TYPES OF SURFACE COATINGS

  • Water Based Acrylics- Can be applied to porous and rough textured interior stone surfaces that will see minimal exposure to water. Can be glossy or matte finish.
  • Solvent Based Acrylics/Lacquers- Can be applied to porous and rough textured interior stone surfaces even with significat exposure to water.
  • High Solids Epoxy-Extremely durable and chemical resistant coating. Available in a rainbow of colors or clear as a top coat to protect porous surfaces and rough textured stone surfaces.
  • Grout Color Sealer- Urethane/acrylic colored sealer/stain used to hide permanent stain, blend uneven color and permanently seal grout.Available in a rainbow of standard grout colors or custom mixed for any decor.
  • Concrete Stain- A four component stain to re-color, hide stains or faux finish concrete surfaces. This is more of a sub surface treatment than a topical coating.
